A Nairobi commercial property commissioned Nine One Two Holdings to conduct a formal security assessment of the CCTV system covering its basement parking levels B1 and B2. The assessment, completed on 28 July 2025, identified three distinct failure categories collectively leaving the property exposed. The first and most critical: significant blind spots across both basement levels, including entry and exit points, corner zones, and pedestrian pathways — creating a High-rated risk of theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access occurring without any footage being generated. The second: the installed NVR was an obsolete end-of-life model with no firmware updates available, introducing a Medium-High risk of system instability, processing failures, and potential exploitation of known but unpatched vulnerabilities. The third: systematic playback delays making the system impractical for incident investigation and degrading real-time monitoring capability.
912's assessment report produced a structured remediation roadmap addressing all three risk categories in priority order. To eliminate the basement blind spots, the report specified additional IP camera positions covering the previously unmonitored entry and exit points, corners, and pedestrian routes — assessed for overlapping fields of view to prevent new coverage gaps from forming.
To resolve the NVR risk, the report recommended a complete replacement of the end-of-life unit with a modern NVR supporting current firmware update cycles, providing the processing headroom to handle an expanded camera count without performance degradation. The storage optimization recommendation — adequate hard disk capacity to sustain simultaneous recording, live viewing, and rapid footage retrieval — was tied to the NVR replacement, as the new unit would natively support higher-throughput configurations. Each finding was graded by severity to enable the client to triage remediation spend against actual risk exposure.
The assessment delivered a risk-rated findings report with a clear three-point action plan. The property management and facilities team received a prioritized investment roadmap rather than a generic equipment list — enabling procurement decisions and contractor briefings without requiring an additional site survey. The report formally confirmed that the current surveillance system was inadequate for reliable security monitoring, providing the documented basis for the subsequent upgrade works.
A security assessment that produces a graded, actionable findings report is worth more than a quote for new equipment. When management can see which risks are High versus Medium, they can sequence capital spend correctly.
